Located in Marin County, California, The SILOE Research Institute was established in 2009 as a non-partisan think tank conducting research into a variety of areas related to science, invention, engineering, exploration, and underwater technology. Our reports on unusual inventions that fail in the marketplace despite their innovative nature, which we call White Elephant Technology or WETech for short, have appeared in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Smithsonian Air & Space magazine and numerous other publications. Among the institute’s core beliefs is that humanity’s accomplishments (even when they end in failure) are worthy of study because they not only help offset our many transgressions but they are the purest expression of the human condition.

Heading out to do field research in Mobile Unit #7.
